4-5 T-Ball Rules

To provide consistency for the players, please follow these rules throughout the season. They should be shared with coaches and parents, so everyone is fully aware. While the players are getting older, the emphasis is still on teaching and having fun. The rules have been designed to ensure that. They should be followed as written. 

Lineup

1. All players that come to the game will be included in the lineup. 
2. Late arrivals to the field should be added to the end of the existing lineup and the opposing manager should be told of the addition.
3.   Lineups should rotate throughout the season so players bat in different positions during the season.
4.   A maximum of 11 players should be in the field – 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, and 4 outfielders. Extra infielder can play behind the mound or in short center field. Plus, to players on the sides of the pitcher's mound.
5.   Every player must be given the opportunity to play both outfield and infield during the season. No player should remain in the same position for the entire game.

Batting

1. All Players must hit off a tee
2.   A player remains at bat until one of these things occur:
3. Ball is put in play in fair territory
4. (5) swings and misses
5. After (5) missed swings a coach may assist the player to help make contact.
6. There are no strikeouts in this division.

 

Baserunning 

1. Batters may run out their hits for as many bases as they can get until either an overthrow occurs, or the ball is attempted to be returned to the infield and or is in the possession of a fielder. 
2.   Once the ball is attempted to be thrown back to the Pitcher or pitching coach the play is dead.
3.   Only 1 additional base is allowed on an overthrow of a batted ball. Once that overthrow occurs there will be no additional advancements.
4.   No stealing will be allowed in this division. 
5.   There is no tagging up in this division.
6.   There are no headfirst slides. 
7.   No Leading off any base. 
8.   An inning ends when 5 runs are scored or 3 outs. 
9.   No bunting will be allowed in this division. 
10.   No player should be holding a bat until they are asked to walk to the plate for their at bat. 

Other Rules

1.   No Infield Fly Rule.
2. Time of Game - A full game is 6 innings. However, no inning will start after 1 hour and fifty minutes of play is completed.
3.   Time is declared by the third out of the defensive team. 

Bat Information 

1. All Bats Must Have the USA Logo and the barrel no larger than 2 5/8.
